Sojka and Alderman Perform Well in Northwoods League Dream Showcase

FOND DU LAC, WI – Fond du Lack Dock Spiders Andrew Sojka (CSUN) and Kemp Alderman (Ole Miss) both launched home runs as part of the 2022 Northwoods League Major League Dreams showcase at Copeland Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin on Tuesday evening.

Four players represented the Dock Spiders at the event, including pitchers David Hagaman (West Virginia) and Reed Gallant (Rice) along with Sojka and Alderman.

The event featured two games with the top 100 Northwoods League prospects selected by Major League Baseball scouts. The four Dock Spiders played with Home Team One during game one at the Showcase. All players took part in the Dreams Showcase workout in front of scouts before the game, which was won by Visiting Team One, 18-10.

Sojka was the star of the game, smashing a home run and two doubles as part of a 3-4 day with an RBI. The CSUN product came into the Showcase as one of the hottest hitters in the Northwoods League, slashing .405/.495/.722 with five home runs in 21 games.

After tallying the 10th multi-home-run game in Dock Spiders history on Sunday against the Wausau Woodchucks, Alderman tallied a 2-3 day, including a three-run home run in the eighth inning.

David Hagaman entered the game in the first inning and struck out two over 1.1 innings after starter Tyler Cornett (West Texas A&M) exited after two outs. Gallant also struck out two in an inning of work.

The Dock Spiders return to action tomorrow night against the Battle Creek Battle Jacks at 6:35 p.m. at Herr-Baker Field. Tomorrow marks Weaver’s Birthday Party, with appearances from various mascots across Wisconsin.
