Spirit Of Life Congregation Target Of Scam

A local pastor wants his congregation to know he’s not in the hospital, and that the requests they are getting for funds to help get him out of the hospital are a scam. 

Pastor John Rodgers is with Spirit of Life Christian Church on N. National Avenue in Fond du Lac. He told FDL Police just before 10:00 a.m. Friday that a number of his parishioners had told him they have been receiving texts, asking for money on his behalf, and that he’s in the hospital. The texts were coming from the Green Bay area, and police said the phone number is no longer in service. 

Pastor Rogers contacted the congregation via Facebook to let them know he’s fine, and to not give any money to the scammers. At this point, it would appear no one is out any money.
