Level 2 of the WIAA football playoffs tonight.

In Division 1, Fond du Lac hosts Milwaukee King at Fruth Field tonight. King comes into the game at 10-0 on the year with a 39-0 win over Milwaukee Morse-Marshall in level one. Fond du Lac head coach Mike Gnewuch says Justice King is unlike any quarterback they’ve seen so far, so they have to contain him and establish the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Our coverage begins at 5:30 on KFIZ, kickoff at 7pm.

In Division 5 the Winnebago Lutheran Vikings head on the road to face undefeated #2 seed Southern Door. Southern Door’s offense is led by the LeCaptain brothers, Nick at Quarterback and Derek at running back. Vikings head coach John Boggs says his team has to slow them down to be successful.  Overall, Boggs says his team is feeling confident going into the game…

Also in D5, the Laconia Spartans travel to southwest Wisconsin to face off against perennial state power, Lancaster in their level 2 game. Lancaster running back Evan Gates has rushed for over 1,800 yards and 23 touchdowns this year. Spartans head coach Mark Madigan says that playing responsibility football and get the ball out of Gates’ hands.

In Division 6, a pair of unbeatens face off in level 2 as St. Mary’s Springs will host Lake Country Lutheran at North Fond du Lac High School. Coach Bob Hyland says Lake County Lutheran is able to run and pass well and has some speed, so they need to take care of business on their end and be prepared.

A pair of area high school football players have been named finalists for Senior Football Awards at their respective positions. Fond du Lac Cardinals Linebacker Devon Krzanowski was named a finalist for the John Anderson Award, which is given to the state’s top senior linebacker.
