Packers Schedule

The Packers 2013 regular season schedule was released on Thursday night.  Green Bay will open the season on the road in San Francisco on Sunday, September 8th at 3:25pm.  The home opener is the next Sunday, September 15th at Noon against the Washington Redskins.  Green Bay will have three Sunday Night Football Games; October 27th at Minnesota, November 17th at the New York Giants, and home against the Atlanta Falcons on December 8th.  Green Bay will have one game on Monday Night Football on November 4th when they host Chicago.  The Packers also travel to Detroit on Thanksgiving Day.  The season ends on December 29th in Chicago.  The Gold Package games are October 6th against the Lions and November 10th against the Eagles.  Green Bay will not play back to back road games all season.  That’s the first time that’s happened since they joined the NFL in 1921.

NFL Draft

The Packers have only 8 picks in this years NFL Draft which begins on Thursday.  Green Bay picks 26th in the first round. GM Ted Thompson isn’t very active in free agency so he needs to find good players in the draft.  Thompson will be working with some new faces in the draft war room this year as his top personnel men Reggie McKenzie and John Dorsey have now moved on to GM jobs.

 

Brewers Sweep Giants

The Brewers got out the brooms and swept away the San Francisco Giants with a 7-2 win on Thursday afternoon at Miller Park.  Ryan Braun, Jonathan Lucroy and Yovani Gallardo all hit home runs in the win.  Gallardo gave up 1 run and five hits in six innings of work to notch the win.  The Cubs come to town for a weekend series.  Marco Estrada takes on Jeff Samardzija in tonight’s series opener.  Coverage begins at 6:35pm on KFIZ

 

Brewers Make Move

The Brewers have sent starter Mike Fiers to the minors and called up Hiram Burgos to get the start on Saturday against the Cubs.

Badger Spring Game

The Wisconsin Badgers will practice for the rest of the week before wrapping up spring practice with the annual Spring Game at Camp Randall on Saturday.  Head Coach Gary Andersen says that quarterbacks Joel Stave and Curt Phillips have separated themselves from the other signal callers on the rosters but are still adjusting to the new scheme.  The new coach says the guys on both sides of the ball are adapting well to his system.  The Spring Game kicks off at 4pm on Saturday.  You’ll hear it on KFIZ.
