It’s week two under the lights tonight as high school football teams throughout the area return to action tonight.

The Fond du Lac Cardinals follow up their week one win over Appleton West with a road game at Appleton North tonight. Cardinals head coach Mike Gnewuch says the Lightning are a physical team and one of the keys is to limit their ground game and force them into 3rd and long scenarios.  Kickoff is at 7pm tonight, hear the action on KFIZ with myself and Nick Van Nocker live from Appleton North.

In one of the premier non-conference matchups of the season, the St. Mary’s Springs Ledgers head on the road to face the Amherst Falcons tonight. The defending division 6 and division 5 state champions respectively met last year at Fruth Field with Amherst coming out on top 39-14. Ledgers head coach Bob Hyland says scheduling tough opponents like Amherst and Shiocton helps his team improve.

Winnebago Lutheran Academy follows up their week one triumph over Kettle Moraine Lutheran with a home game against Kenosha Saint Joe’s. Head coach John Boggs says the Lancers are an athletic team and his team needs to be prepared for a tough out tonight.

The North Fond du Lac Orioles look to move to 2-0 on the season with a win tonight at Horicon/Hustisford. Co-head coach Pat Kolbe says tonight’s game will be a challenge for the Orioles squad, as Horicon/Hustisford has a lot of team speed.
