Packers Travel to San Francisco

The Green Bay Packers head to San Francisco today as they get ready for Saturday night’s NFC Divisional playoff game against the 49ers.  Everyone but Jerel Worthy and Jarrett Boykin practiced on Thursday.  The flu bug is going through the Packers locker room.  Randall Cobb has been dealing with the flu this week.  Aaron Rodgers told reporters that he’s not 100% but will be ready to go on Saturday night.  Pregame coverage begins at 5pm. The kickoff is set for 7pm on KFIZ.

49ers Keep Kicker

The 49ers have kicking problem much like the Packers,  David Akers has struggled all season and the team brought in Billy Cundiff to compete for the job this week.  When it was all said and done, Niners head coach Jim Harbaugh decided to stick with Akers.

Coaching Comings and Going

The Cleveland Browns have hired Carolina offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski as their new head coach.  Jacksonville has fired head coach Mike Malarkey.

Narveson Gets Deal

The Brewers avoided arbitration with lefty Chris Narveson agreeing to a one-year, $840,000 contract.  He was 1-1 last year before having season ending rotator cuff surgery.  John Axford, Burke Badenhop, Marco Estrada, and Carlos Gomez are the only Brewers still eligible for arbitration.

College Hoops Unbeaten Goes Down

Arizona fell from the ranks of the unbeaten in men’s college basketball on Thursday night, losing to Oregon 70-66.

Punt Pass and Kick

Our 9 yr old Alayna Suprenand has advanced to the NFL punt pass kick finals competition being held in Atlanta this weekend. She is a 4th grader at Redeemer Lutheran School in Fond du Lac. She won her local & sectional events in September.  She then competed in Green Bay Packer team championship in November and won. We found out that her score finished in the top 4 nationally, which has advanced her to the National Championship. The championship will be held in the Georgia Dome this Saturday. All participants will also throw a pass at halftime of the Falcon/Seahawk game, with the winners announced live on the FOX broadcast during the game.

Fondy Hoops on KFIZ

The Fond du Lac boys basketball team heads to Appleton West tonight.  You’ll hear all the action on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  Coverage begins at 7:05pm with the Backyard Grill Pregame Show.  The tip is set for 7:30pm.  The game also streams at kfiz.com
