Packers Update

The Packers continue to get ready for the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at Lambeau.  Aaron Rodgers was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for October. Rodgers had 14 TD passes and just one interception as Green Bay won 3 of their 4 games.   Defensive back Casey Hayward was name the NFL Rookie of the Month.  Hayward had four interceptions in October.  Sunday’s kickoff is set for Noon. Jennings Surgery

Packer WR Greg Jennings had abdominal surgery on Thursday.  The procedure was postponed from Tuesday because of the storms on the East Coast.

Sandy Troubles Steelers

Superstorm Sandy has thrown a monkey wrench into the Pittsburgh Steelers travel plans for their game at the New York Giants on Sunday.  The hotel they were suppose to stay in still doesn’t have power and there are no other hotels to accommodate them in the New Jersey area.  That means Pittsburgh will have to fly in on Sunday morning and play their game later that day.

 

No Badgers This Weekend

The Badger football team takes the weekend off and will travel to Indiana next weekend.

 

Tony Plush On Way Out

The Brewers outrighted OF Nyjer Morgan to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, paving the way for his release.  Morgan is expected to decline the demotion and become a free agent.  As expected reliever Jose Veras declined his assignment to Nashville on Thursday and he is now a free agent.

 

Melvin Says No To Hamilton Rumors

Brewers GM Doug Melvin continues to deny the Brewers might be in the running for Texas slugger Josh Hamilton.  Earlier ESPN reported the team might have interest in one of the top free agents on the market and this week’s Sports Illustrated listed the Brewers as the best spot for the former MVP  Melvin told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel  they don’t play on pursuing any big name free agents.  The Brewers cleared $40 million dollars off their payroll with the departures of Zack Greinke, Shaun Marcum, Randy Wolf, and Francisco Rodriguez. 

 

Bucks Open Up Tonight

The Milwaukee Bucks open up the 2012-13 season tonight at the Boston Celtics.  You’ll hear the game on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  Coverage begins at 6:10pm with the tip at 6:30pm.

 

Legers Host Shiocton

St. Mary’s Springs hosts Shiocton on Saturday night in a WIAA Division Six, 3rd round playoff game at Fruth. The Ledgers beat Shiocton 24-0 in the D6 state title game last season.  You’ll hear it on KFIZ and kfiz.com.  Coverage begins at 6:35pm with the Backyard Grill Kickoff Show.  The game starts at 7pm.  The game is presented by The BCI Burke Company, Taco Bell and Immel Insurance and Financial Services.

 

Stritch Plays Notre Dame Tonight

The Cardinal Stritich University, which is coached by Fond du Lac Goodrich graduate Drew Diener, will play a college basketball game tonight in South Bend, Indiana against #23 Notre Dame.  The Wolves, ranked #5 in NAIA Division II, feature a handful of local players including Fond du Lac High grads Tony Smit and Nick Ford.  Laconia grad Derek Semenas also plays for Stritch.
