WIAA Soccer Sectional

Winnebago Lutheran advanced to the WIAA Division Three Soccer Sectional final with a 1-0 win at #1 ranked Sturgeon Bay on Thursday night.  Jacob Schraufnagel scored the only goal of the game in the 34th minute.  The Vikings will host 2nd ranked Green Bay NEW Lutheran in Sectional Final on Saturday night at 7pm.  Central Wisconsin Christian also advanced to the D3 Sectional Finals with a 9-3 win over Lakeside Lutheran.  CWC will host Oostburg on Saturday night at 7pm with a trip to state on the line.

Ledgers Open Playoff Run Tonight

St. Mary’s Springs hosts Algoma tonight in their Division 6 first round playoff game tonight at Fruth Field.  St. Mary’s Springs is ranked #1 in the state while Algoma comes in at 3-5 overall and 3-3 in the Olympian-Packerland Small.  Coverage begins tonight on KFIZ and kfiz.com at 6:20pm with the Backyard Grill Kickoff Show.  The kickoff is set for 7pm.  Coverage is presented by the BCI Burke Company and also brought to you by Taco Bell and Immel Insurance and Financial Services.

Baseball

The Detroit Tigers are back in the World Series after an 8-1 win over the New York Yankees on Thursday.  Max Scherzer struck out 10 to pick up the win and Jhonny Peralta hit a pair of homers as the Tigers completed the 4 game sweep.  In the National League, St. Louis is one game away from the World Series after an 8-3 win over the Giants last night to take a 3-1 series lead.  The defending champs can close out the series tonight.

 

Bucks Lose

The Memphis Grizzlies beat the Bucks 97-94 in a preseason game in LaCrosse last night.  Monta Ellis had 20 and Brandon Jennings 19 for the Bucks.
