Week four of the high school football season kicks off tonight around the area.

The Fond du Lac Cardinals look to rebound after a loss at Stevens Point last week, and return home to face the Neenah Rockets at Fruth Field tonight. Cardinals head coach Mike Gnewuch says the Cardinals’ offense and Rockets’ defense match up well and that Fond du Lac provides a balanced attack to counter what their defense does. .

On Saturday night at Fruth Field the St. Mary’s Springs Ledgers open Flyway Conference play against North Fond du Lac. Ledgers head coach Bob Hyland says taking care of business and staying healthy are the keys for his team as the thick of the conference slate approaches. Kickoff on Saturday is at 7pm at Fruth Field, hear the game on KFIZ.

The Winnebago Lutheran Vikings are 3-0 and play a non-conference game against Reedsville tonight before returning to play in the Flyway next week. Head Coach john Boggs says the Panthers have some size and practicing for the Reedsville offense has been good for his team, since it helps them understand each player’s responsibility better.

Cross Country:

North Fond du Lac/Oakfield competed at Lomira Thursday night. In the Boys race, North Fondy/Oakfield finished 1st, Lomira 2nd, Campbellsport 5th. In the girls races, Mayville finished 1st, North Fondy/Oakfield team finished 2nd. Lomira 3rd, Campbellsport 4th. Xavier Lasee and Linda Lopez both finished first individually.

The Brewers pounded out 17 hits in a 12-5 win over St. Louis Thursday night. Hernan Perez went four for five with 3 RBI and Milwaukee hit 3 home runs in the win. Junior Guerra went 5 innings in earning his 8th win of the season. Game two is tonight, no broadcast due to High School Football.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers season is done. They lose to Cedar Rapids in game two of their Midwest League first round playoff series by a score of 3-1.

The Denver Broncos rallied from down 10 to win 21-20 over the Carolina Panthers in the NFL season opener in Denver last night. Kicker Graham Gano missed a 50 yard field goal with four seconds left that would have given Carolina the win.

Packers and Badgers this weekend. Badgers on Saturday host Akron. 12:30 pregame, 2:30 kickoff. Packers at Jacksonville on Sunday, 10 am pregame, 12 Noon kickoff. Hear both games on KFIZ.
