–Luke Mangieri went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI in the win in game two for the Dock Spiders.

Fondy closes their inaugural season with a 38-34 overall record, and a 22-14 second half mark – good for second place in the South Division for the second half.

–Ryan Braun hit a pair of doubles and drove in a run as the Brewers won the series finale against Cincinnati at Miller Park on Sunday afternoon. Eric Sogard tripled and Domingo Santana blasted a three-run home run in the 5th inning as the Brewers climbed back to two games above .500 on the season at 61-59. Matt Garza got the win to improve to 6-6 on the year. Garza allowed four runs on five hits in 5 & ⅓ innings. Corey Knebel earned his 22nd save of the year with a scoreless ninth. The Brewers are off today and host Pittsburgh for a short two-game series starting Tuesday.

NFL: The Packers returned to the practice field on Sunday in a closed-door workout. The team is off today and will hold public practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Packers travel to Washington for the second preseason game this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm.


Detroit 24, Indianapolis 10

–Lions’ quarterback Jake Rudock threw for 142 yards and two touchdowns – both to rookie Kenny Golladay in the win for Detroit.

College Football:

The Badgers are set to make a “major scheduling announcement” this morning in Chicago in conjunction with the University of Notre Dame, the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears. It’s believed the 11:30 am press conference will be to announce a series between the Badgers and the Fighting Irish, with one game played at Lambeau Field and another played at Soldier Field. Both UW and Notre Dame have openings on their schedule for games in 2020 and 2021.

Golf: Justin Thomas fired a 3-under 68 to win the PGA Championship by two shots over Patrick Reed, Francesco Molinari and Louis Oosthuizen at Quail Hollow. Thomas finished 8 under in earning his first Grand Slam major, rallying to win the event after beginning the final round two shots behind Kevin Kisner. Rickie Fowler and Hideki Matsuyama finished in a fifth-place tie at minus-5.

NASCAR: Kyle Larson grabbed his third NASCAR Cup win of the year by holding off Martin Truex Jr. following an overtime restart at Michigan International Speedway. Truex led by about a second ahead over Erik Jones before a late caution came out because of a spin by Michael McDowell, causing the overtime restart. Jones finished third, followed by Ryan Newman and Trevor Bayne. Pole-sitter Brad Keselowski was 17th.
