Opening Day

The Brewers will open the 2013 season at Miller Park this afternoon against the Colorado Rockies.  Yovani Gallardo gets the start for the Brewers.  The Rockies are the only National League club he has never beaten during his Big League career.  He’s 0-4 with an ERA just under 6.  You’ll hear all the action on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ. Coverage begins at 12:35pm.  The first pitch is set for 1:10pm

Pierce Moves Up

After a successful season last year for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, Fond du Lac native Chad Pierce has been assigned to Brevard County in the Brewers minor league system.  The Florida team is one rung higher than the T-Rats in the Brewers minor league system.  Pierce says he’s start the season in the bullpen for the Manatees. 

 

Final Four

The Final Four is set for men’s college basketball.  It will be Louisville and Wichita State and Michigan and Syracuse next Saturday in Atlanta.  The Orange knocked off Marquette and Wichita State took down Ohio State.  On Sunday, Michigan blew out Florida 79-59 and Louisville rallied for an 85-63 win over Duke.  Louisville’s Kevin Ware broke his leg in multiple places during the game which caused a 10 minute delay.  He had surgery last night and may be able to leave the hospital on Tuesday.

 

Women’s College Hoops

Defending champion Baylor was knocked out of the NCAA Women’s Tournament 82-81 at the hands of #5 seed Louisville on Sunday.  That marks the end of the college career of Brittney Griner, who was one of the best women’s players in college basketball history.

 

Bucks Basketball

The Bucks host Charlotte tonight at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.  Coverage begins at 6:40pm on KFIZ.

 

PGA Tour

DA Points won the Shell Houston Open on the PGA Tour on Sunday.  He finished one shot better than Henrik Stenson at -16.  Steve Stricker finished tied for 38th.
