The Packers suffered a big
time injury in a meaningless game Sunday. 
Reports says wide receiver Jordy Nelson tore his ACL in his left knee
while catching a pass in the 1st series on Green
Bay
’s 24-19 loss in Pittsburgh.   Nelson caught a pass and then fell to the
ground as he tried to turn up field.  He
walked off the field and Mike McCarthy says he’ll know more about the injury
today. 

 

On the field, Eddie Lacy ran
for a touchdown and Richard Rodgers caught a TD pass.  1st round draft pick Damarious
Randall intercepted a pass in his 1st preseason action because of a
groin injury.  The Packers will host Philadelphia on Saturday
night.

 

A four run 5th
pushed Washington
to a 9-5 win over the Brewers on Sunday afternoon.  Wilson Ramos and Anthony Rendon both went
deep in the big inning as Matt Garza’s record drops to 6-14.  Jonathan Lucroy, Scooter Gennett and Khris
Davis all homered in the loss for the Brewers. 
Milwaukee will open up a quick two game
interleague series in Cleveland
on Tuesday night.

ranked #20 in the initial Associated Press College Football Poll.  Ohio State is #1, followed by TCU, Alabama,
Baylor, and Michigan

Wisconsin
opens the season on September 5th in Texas,
against 3rd ranked Alabama.

 

Davis Love III became the 3rd
oldest player ever to win a PGA Tour event by taking the Wyndham Championship
on Sunday in North Carolina.  Love III finished the event at -17, which was
one shot better than Jason Gore.  Tiger
Woods tied for 10th place and will not qualify for the FedEx Cup
Playoffs which start September 4th

 

Cleveland took Game 1 of the East Shore Baseball League Playoffs
with an 8-2 win over Forest.  Peter Reschke, Tim Salm, and Mitch Gardner all
went deep for Cleveland.  Sam Warner went 3×5 and Ryan Lloyd 2×5 for Forest.   Game Two
of the best of three series is next Sunday at Forest.  The 1st pitch is set for 12:30pm.
