The Brewers salvaged the final game of their series with the St. Louis Cardinals with an 11-2 win at Miller Park.  Ellian Herrera went 5×5 with 3 runs scored while Khris Davis belted his team leading 15th homer of the season.  Wily Peralta gave up 1 run and 3 hits in seven innings of work to notch the win.  The Brewers finish up the first half of the season with a 53-43 record.  That’s good for a one game lead over the Cardinals in the N.L. Central.   They are off until Friday when they open up the 2nd half of the season at Washington.

The Brewers will send four players to Tuesday’s All-Star Game in Minnesota on Tuesday night.  Carlos Gomez will start in centerfield, Jonathan Luroy at catcher and Aramis Ramirez at 3rd base.  Francisco Rodriguez will be in the National League’s bullpen.  The Home Run Derby is set for tonight. 


Germany won the World Cup on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Argentina.  It was the 4th World Cup for the Germans.  The Netherlands beat Brazil 3-0 on Saturday to take 3rd place. 


On the PGA Tour, Brad Harman won the John Deere Classic by 1 shot over Zach Johnson.  Madison’s Jerry Kelly finished tied for 3rd place.  Steve Stricker tied for 11th  Colin Montgomerie won the U.S. Senior open in a playoff over Gene Sauers.  Monty also won the Senior PGA Championship earlier this year.  American Mo Martin won the women’s British Open.


Brad Keselowski won the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire on Sunday.  Kyle Busch was 2nd, Kyle Larson 3rd and Matt Kenseth was 4th.  


Carmelo Anthony tested the free agent market and decided to resign with the New York Knicks.


The Phoenix Suns beat the Bucks 92-83 at the Las Vegas Summer League on Sunday night. 1st round pick Jabari Parker had 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Giannis and Nate Wolters each had 16 points.  The Bucks will play Utah tonight.
