Steph Curry scored 17 of his
37 points in the 4th quarter as Golden
State stopped Cleveland 104-91 in Game 5 of the NBA
Finals.  LeBron James had triple double
with 40 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists in the loss.  With a 3-2 series lead, the Warriors can
close out the series and win the NBA championship with a victory on Tuesday
night in Game 6 on Tuesday night in Cleveland.

 

Washington Nationals starter
Max Scherzer was brilliant in a 4-0 win over the Brewers at Miller Park
on Sunday.  The Nationals’ right-hander
struck out 16 Brewers hitters and had a perfect game broken up when Carlos
Gomez collected a bloop single in the 7th.  That was the only hit Scherzer would give up
Sunday afternoon.  Taylor Jungmann gave
up just two runs and five hits in five innings of work to take the hard luck
loss.  The Brewers will play the first of
two games with Kansas City tonight at Miller Park.  Coverage begins at 6:35pm on KFIZ.  After games in Milwaukee
on Monday and Tuesday, the Brewers and Royals will go to Kansas City for games on Wednesday and
Thursday.

win Lord Stanley’s Cup tonight when they host Tampa Bay
in Game Six of their best of seven series. 
The Blackhawks lead the series 3 games to two.

 

Kurt Busch was a rain
shortened NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Michigan
on Sunday  After four rain delays the
race was called with 138 of the 200 laps completed.  Dale Earnhardt, Junior gets credit for 2nd
place.  Martin Truex was 3rd,
and Matt Kenseth 4thEau Claire native Paul
Menard was 8th.

 

Fabian Gonzalez collected his
1st ever PGA Tour victory at the St. Jude Classic in Memphis on Sunday.  The Argentina native finished the event
at -13.  That was good for a four shot
win over Greg Owen.  Phil Mickelson was
in a group of five golfer at -8.

 

Over 8,000 fans showed up on
Sunday for Jordy Nelson’s annual charity softball game at Fox Cities Stadium in
Appleton. The
defense ended up winning the game 29-19. The offense built an 18-5 lead before
Jordy Nelson announced they would flip the score to keep the game
competitive. 

 

Fond du Lac County was flexed their softball muscles with four area
teams at the WIAA State Softball Tournament over the weekend.  Laconia
took home the Division Three crown with a 2-1 win over Poynette.   Oakfield and Waupun settle for runner-up
trophies.  In Division Two, LaCrosse
Logan blanked Waupun 3-0. In the D4 Final, Stevens Point Pacelli scratched out
a run in the bottom of the 6th to beat Oakfield 1-0.  Lomira also qualified for the D3 semifinals
but lost to Poynette on a bottom of the 7th walk-off homer on Friday
night.
