Sports – Monday, November 17th, 2014

The Green Bay Packers rolled over the Philadelphia Eagles 53-20
on Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field. 
Aaron Rodgers threw for 341 yards and three TDs. Jordy Nelson and
Randall Cobb each had big days as well.  Cobb
caught 10 for 129.  Nelson caught four balls
for 109 yards and a TD.  Eddie Lacy ran
for touchdown and caught another in the win. 
Micah Hyde returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown in the first half
while Julius Peppers returned a Mark Sanchez interception 52 yards for a score.
 Casey Hayward added a 49 yard fumble return
in the 2nd half.  It’s the
first time in franchise history that the Packers scored 50 points in back to
back games.   The win pulls Green Bay
even with Detroit
on top of the NFC North with a 7-3 record.

The Lions lost at Arizona
14-6.   Also in the NFC North, the Bears
stopped the Vikings  21-13.  On Sunday Night Football, Jonas Gray ran for
199 yards and 4 TDs as New England won at Indianapolis
42-20

 

Talk Packers football tonight from 6pm to 7pm during In The
Huddle with TJ Lang and David Bakhatiari on KFIZ.  Then at 7pm its Monday Night Football as the
Titans host the Steelers.

 

The Badgers moved up to #14 in the Associated Press College
Football Poll and #15 in the Coaches Poll after their 59-24 win over Nebraska on
Saturday.  Florida
State is #1 in both polls this week,
followed by Alabama, Oregon
and Mississippi State
The Badgers will travel to Iowa
on Saturday.  That game kicks off at
2:30pm with a 12:30pm pregame on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

 

The Badger men’s basketball team had no problem with Chattanooga on Sunday at the Kohl Center,
picking up an 89-45 win. Sam Dekker had 18 points while Frank Kaminisky added
15 points and 10 rebounds.  Nigel Hayes
scored 15 and grabbed 13 boards in the win.

The Cardinal Stritch men’s basketball team coached by Fond du Lac native Drew
Diener picked up a huge non-conference win at #1 ranked and defending NCAA
Division Three champion UW-Whitewater 71-66 on Saturday night.  Laconia
grad Tyler Semenas led the Wolves with 18 points. 

 

The Marian men dropped their opener at Beloit College
66-63 on Saturday.  Campbellsport grad
Isiah Daniels paced the Sabres with 18 points. 
Marian hosts Ripon on Wednesday night. 

 

Brandon Knight scored 20 and Jabari Parker 13 as the Bucks
won at Miami
91-84 last night.  Milwaukee is now 5-5 on the season. They host
the Knicks on Tuesday night.

 

The St. Mary’s Springs
Academy
football team is
back in the state championship game after a one year absences.  The Ledgers thumped Athens 31-7 in the semifinals on Friday to
improve to 13-0 on the season.  St.
Mary’s Springs will take on Darlington (12-1)
on Thursday at 1pm in the Division Six State Championship Game at Camp Randall
Stadium.  The Redbirds knocked the
Ledgers out of the playoffs last season in the semifinals.  You’ll hear all the action on News-Talk 1450

Kevin Harvick won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship with a
dramatic win at Homestead
on Sunday.  Chase contenders Harvick,
Ryan Newman and Denny Hamlin were 1-2-3 with six laps left.  Harvick passed Hamlin late and then held off
a late run by Newman to secure the championship.
