Packers Survive

The Green Bay Packers rallied for a 24-20 win over the Lions on Sunday in Detroit.  Aaron Rodgers hits Randall Cobb on a 22 yard score with 1:55 left in the fourth quarter for the go-ahead score.  Rodgers threw a pair of TDs on the day, including a 2nd quarter 20 yard strike to Jerimichael Finley.  He also had one interception.  MD Jennings also got Green Bay on the scoreboard with a 72 yard interceptions return for a TD.  James Starks carried the ball 25 times for 74 yards.  Mason Crosby missed 2 of 3 field goal attempts on the day but Mike McCarthy insists he won’t be given the boot.  The win was Green Bay’s 5th straight and improves their record to 7-3 on the season.  They will travel to New York for a Sunday night matchup with the Giants next weekend.  Detroit drops to 4-6

 

BCS

Notre Dame moved up to the #1 spot in the this week’s BCS Standings after #1 Oregon and #2 Kansas State lost.  Alabama is #2 and Georgia is #3.  Florida is 4th and Oregon is now #5.  K-State dropped to #6.

 

Maryland & Rutgers To Big Ten

Reports says that the University of Maryland will vote today whether to accept an invitation to join the Big Ten.  If the Terps vote to leave the ACC, Rutgers is expected to vote very soon on whether to leave the Big East for the Big Ten.  If both schools come to the league, they will increase their membership to 14 schools.  Maryland would have to pay a $50 million dollar exit fee to the ACC.  Rutgers would owe the Big East $10 million. 

 

Badgers Hoops Win

The Wisconsin Badger men’s basketball team rolled by Cornell 73-40 at the Kohl Center on Sunday.  Ben Brust and Jared Buggren each at 18 for UW who will host Presbyterian on Tuesday night.  You’ll hear that game on KFIZ.

 

Marquette in Hawaii

The Marquette men’s basketball team begins play at the Maui Invitational this afternoon as they play Butler at 2:30pm, Wisconsin time.  The Golden Eagles will also play on Tuesday and Wednesday. 

 

Keselowski Wins Chase

Brad Keselowski won NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Championship with a 15th place finish at Homestead on Sunday.  Clint Bowyer ended up 2nd in the Chase standing 39 points behind.  Jimmie Johnson, who had mechanical problems ended up 3rd, 40 points behind.  Jeff Gordon won the race.
