The Brewers couldn’t quite finish the comeback on Friday as the lost to the Red’s 6 to 5.  The Brewers were down 5 to 1 until they mounted a 4 run bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 5 a piece.  The Red’s then added 1 run in the top of ninth to give them the victory.  Kris Davis homered for the Brewers in the losing effort. 

The series continues tonight as Yovanni Galardo gets the nod against Matt Latos.  Coverage begins at 5:40pm with the first pitch set for 6:15pm and you can here that game right here on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

Scores around the NL central last night; The Cub’s beat the Phillies 2 to 1,  St. Louis beat Washington 1 to 0 and Pittsburgh beat Miami 8 to 6.  The Brewers still have the lead in the NL central with St. Louis 4 and half games back and the Cubs are the farthest back at 11 and half games.

Martin Kaymer is running away from the field at the U.S. Open at Pinehurst #2 after shooting 65 in each of the first two rounds. At 10-under par, the German has a six shot leader over Brandon Todd.  Wisconsin native Steve Stricker is a +1 for the tournament.  Fellow Badger Mark Wilson just missed the cut at +6.  Phil Mickelson will not win the U.S. Open as he is at +3.   Kaymer won the Players Championship last month and the 2010 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.

The Los Angeles Kings beat the New York Rangers 3 to 2 after 2 thrilling overtime periods to give the kings the Victory in the Stanley Cup Finals.  Kings defenseman Alec Martinez scored the game-winning goal

The NBA Finals continue on Sunday at 7:00.  San Antonio leads the series 3 games to 1.

In World cup scores, Netherlands beat Spain 5 to 1 and Chile defeated Australia 3 to 1.

A pair of area softball teams will be playing for state championships today.  Oakfield defeated Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 6-4 in a Division Four Semifinal on Friday morning.  The Oaks rallied for three runs in the bottom of the 6th to earn the win.  Oakfield will play Cochrane-Fountain City this morning at 10:05am in the Division Four State Title Game.  Laconia punched their ticket to the Division Thee State Championship with a 12-0 win over Mishicot in semifinals on Friday afternoon. Kayle Schwebke struck out 11 and gave up just three hits to earn the win.  The Spartans will match up with Arcadia today at 12:35pm for the D3 Title.

The New Holstein girl’s soccer team will host Howards Grove this afternoon in a Division 4 Sectional Final at 4pm
