The Fond du Lac High School Athletic Department announced the hiring of a boys and girls basketball coach on Friday.  Former St. Mary Central coach Mark Ziebell will take over the boys program.  He coached at St. Mary Central from 1994 to 2007 and again from 2010 through this past season.  He was at Green Bay Southwest from 2007 to 2010.  He has a career record of 199 wins and 257 losses.

 

Jeff Bell has been named the Fond du Lac girls coach.  Bell is currently a teacher at Sabish Middle School and has been an assistant with the Omro girls basketball team the last two seasons. 

 

The Fond du Lac boys track team won the Oshkosh West Sectional on Friday.  Junior Peter Andrew won the shot put title and senior Mike Theis (tice) won the discus.  The Fond du Lac girls were 3rdat the Sectional.  Marissa Wustrack won the triple-jump and the long jump.

 

At the Division Two Track Sectional at Whitewater, WLA’s Mitchell Bilitz won the 1600. 

 

St. Mary’s Spring’s boys won the D3 Track Sectional at Princeton.  Sam Schrauth won the shot put and the 4×800 relay team also won the Sectional.  The Ledger girls were 2nd.  Melanie Schneider won the 200 and 400 while the Ledger girls also took the 4×800 crown.

The Brewers had a huge first inning against the cubs as they went on to an 11 to 5 victory.  The first inning was anchored by Ryan Braun’s first home run at Miller Park in over a year.   The Brew Crew totaled 16 hits on the game, 10 of those came before the 4th inning.  Jean Segura, Ryan Braun, Rickie Weeks, and Martin Maldonado all had 3 hits in the game for the Brewers, which now have a 4 game lead over the second place Cardinals.  The Brewers continue there series this afternoon as Jason Hammel takes on Wily Peralta.  Coverage begins at 2:35 with the first pitch set 3:10.  And as always you can here that game right here on KFIZ.

Scores around the NL central yesterday, The San Francisco Giants beat the Cardinals 9 to 4.  Cincinnati beat the Diamondbacks 6 to 4, and Pittsburg beat the Dodgers 2 to 1. 

The Miami Heat advanced to the NBA Finals for the fourth straight season behind a combined 50 points from LeBron James and Chris Bosh in a 117-92 rout of the Pacers. After this game it is LeBron James’ 100th career playoff victory.  San Antonio will continue there series against Oklahoma City tonight at 7:30.  San Antonio leads the series 3 games to 2.

Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy is coming off a monstrous rookie season as he totaled 284 carries, 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns with 4.1 yards per carries average.  And let’s keep in mind that he missed 2 games with a concussion and still put up those numbers.  Last season earned him rookie of the year honors.  Lacy says he is going to look at last years mistakes to help him feel more comfortable this year….  we will get our first look at Lacy and the entire Packers team in there first Preseason game on August 9th against the Tennessee Titans.  Let’s keep in mind that that is only a short 69 days away.
