Saturday high school action: 

Girl’s Volleyball: 

North Fond du Lac hosted a home invitational on Saturday and took 2nd place. The Orioles won against Stockbridge 2-0 (25-20, 25-18) and Horicon 2-0 (25-18, 26-24) and lost to Valley Christian 0-2 (19-25, 19-25). Jasmin Spittel led the team with 19 kills, Megan Zagar had 5 blocks and Myriah Disterhaft and Holli Jaeger each had 10 digs. Claire Pelot had six service aces for the Orioles. 

Central Wisconsin Christian played in a tournament at UW-Whitewater this weekend, going 3-6 with wins against Kenosha St. Joseph’s, Beloit and Burlington Catholic Central. 

Boys Soccer: 

New Holstein was swept in a tournament at Oshkosh North, losing to Waupaca 4-1 and then Oshkosh North 10-0. 

Cross Country: 

The Fond du Lac Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed at the Jamie Block Challenge in West Bend. The boys finished 5th as a team with Noah Tagliapietra finishing 5th individually in the Junior/Senior race. The girls team finished 22nd overall, with Madison Hughes finishing in 6th place as a sophomore. 


Girls Tennis: Fond du Lac competed in the Wauwautosa East Invite on Saturday, losing to Kenosha St. Joseph’s 6-1 and winning over Wauwautosa West 4-3. 


Girls Swimming: Fond du Lac finished third in the blue division at the Norskie Invitational at DeForest High School. 

Baseball: 

The Brewers fell to the Pirates 9-6 at Miller Park on Saturday night. The crew got two home runs fromHernan Perez and a home run from relief pitcher Tyler Cravy in the 4th inning. A five run fourth and a three run sixth helped Pittsburgh secure the win. Final game in the series is this afternoon, a 12:35 pregame, 1:10 first pitch on KFIZ. 

In Golf, Rickie Fowler kept bogeys off his card for the second straight day and closed with a 5-foot birdie putt for a 3-under 68, giving him a one-shot lead over Patrick Reed going into the final round of The Barclays. Adam Scott was two shots back. 


In racing, Michael McDowell won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Road America in Elkhart Lake on Saturday. edging out teammate Brendan Gaughan. Brennan Poole finished third.  It was the first career Xfinity series win for McDowell.
