Saturday’s High School Action: 

Football: 

St. Mary’s Springs 48, Omro 0. 

Clay Schueffner rushed for 143 yards and 3 touchdowns and Fintan Floyd ran for 109 yards and 2 scores as the Ledgers dominated Omro on Saturday afternoon at Fruth Field. Blake Bauer passed for 167 yards and a score as St. Mary’s Springs improves to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Flyway Conference. Springs visits Winnebago Lutheran next Saturday.

Girls Volleyball: 

North Fond du Lac went 0-4 in the New Holstein Tournament. The Orioles fell to New Holstein (11-25, 17-25), Kohler (20-25, 24-26), Wrightstown (21-25, 16-25), Hilbert (20-25, 10-25). 

Waupun finishes 3rd at the Lake Geneva Badger invite. Warriors defeated Williams Bay twice, Elkhorn and Clinton, with a loss to Badger. 

Boys Volleyball: 

Fond du Lac competed at the Dave Hash Invite at Kaukauna High School. In pool play the Cardinals defeated Kimberly 2-1 (17-21, 21-10, 16-14), and lost to Arrowhead 2-1 (21-17, 16-21, 11-15) and Germantown 2-1 (22-20, 14-22, 12-15). Fondy advanced to the championship bracket, where they fell to New Berlin United 2-0 (25-20, 25-19). Nate Diederich led the team in kills with 21, Will Mockert had 40 assists, Ian Spletter had 13 blocks, Cody Peterson with 26 digs and Will Mockert had 3 aces. 

Boys Soccer:

Cross Country: 

Oshkosh Lourdes Invitational: 

Fond du Lac girls finish 12th in the large schools division. Madison Hughes placed 13th individually. The Fond du Lac boys finished 9th overall in the large division. Noah Tagliapietra placed 4th and Kiernan Koepke placed 10th individually. 

North Fond du Lac/Oakfield Girls place 6th in the small schools division, the boys place 8th. Linda Lopez finished 25th individually for the girls, while Diego Charbonneau placed 22nd. 

Laconia girls finished 14th in the small schools division of the Lourdes invite. Cyna Madigan placed 10th individually. Laconia boys finished 12th, Alec Potter placed 12th individually.  

Girls Swimming: 

Fond du Lac competed in a triangular hosted by Clintonville High School. The Cardinals defeated Clinonville 110-60 and Berlin 129-32

College Football: 

Wisconsin 30, Michigan State 6

The Badgers defense tallied seven sacks, three interceptions and safety Leo Musso returned a fumble 66 yards for a touchdown as the Badgers dominated number 8 Michigan State in East Lansing. Redshirt Freshman Quarterback Alex Hornibrook made his first career start and threw for 195 yards, a touchdown and an interception. His touchdown pass went to former Saint Mary’s Springs standout Eric Steffes. Corey Clement ran for two scores in the win. The Badgers play in the Big House against the Michigan Wolverines next Saturday.

MLB: Brewers fell to Cincinnati 6-1 at Miller Park. Domingo Santana’s solo home run in the 2nd was the only scoring for the Brewers. Final game of the series is this afternoon. 

NFL: Safety Morgan Burnett and Linebacker Clay Matthews have been ruled out of today’s game against Detroit. Burnett is nursing a groin injury and Matthews is still rehabbing from an ankle injury suffered in last Sunday’s loss to Minnesota. Pregame coverage begins at 10am, kickoff at Noon on KFIZ.
