Fond du Lac’s Kellie Hierl begins competition today at the State Girls Tennis Tournament in Madison. Hierl will compete in singles play starting  with a match against freshman Maddi Bremel of Madison West at Nielsen Tennis Stadium on the UW Madison campus. Match time is 10:30 am.

NFL: Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week after he helped lead the Packers to a 35-31 win over the Cowboys in Dallas Sunday afternoon. Rodgers completed 19 of 29 passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning score to Davante Adams with 11 seconds to play in the game. It’s the 16th time in Rodgers’ career that he has been named Offensive Player of the Week, which is a franchise record and the most in the NFL since 2010.

A minor back injury kept receiver Jordy Nelson off the field for the Green Bay Packers’ winning drive in the fourth quarter against the Dallas Cowboys. Nelson was a full participant when the Packers returned to practice Wednesday. The NFL leader with six touchdown catches said that there was nothing to worry about with the injury and that he planned to play Sunday against Minnesota

Tonight on Thursday Night Football, the Philadelphia Eagles visit the Carolina Panthers. Coverage begins at 7pm after the Paul Chryst Show on KFIZ.
