The WIAA Boys Soccer Tournament heads into the sectional semifinals today. In our area, in Division four, Winnebago Lutheran will host last year’s D4 State Champion Sturgeon Bay at the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex tonight. Also in D4, St. Lawrence Seminary will host Oshkosh Lourdes/Valley Christian this afternoon. The winners will meet in the Sectional Championship game Saturday afternoon.

The Packers continue their preparations for facing the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers says they’ve had a hard time finding an identity because of injuries at skill positions and there are a lot of moving parts. He says it will be a work in progress going forward for the rest of the season. Head Coach Mike McCarthy says they make no excuses for injuries and the players know that.

The Badgers are preparing to face seventh ranked and unbeaten Nebraska Saturday night at Camp Randall Stadium. Running back Dare Ogunbowale says despite being favored over Nebraska, the team’s focus remains the same, and they just need to go out and be ready to play despite what “experts” or the folks in Las Vegas say the favorite is.

The Milwaukee Bucks fell in their season opener 107-96 to the Charlotte Hornets at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Wednesday night. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 31 points to lead the Bucks, while Greg Monroe pitched in 14. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist led Charlotte with 23 points. The Bucks shot 18 percent (3-16) from three point range on the night, and found themselves in a 15 point deficit at halftime, and trailed by 17 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Bucks will host Brooklyn on Saturday night.

The Cubs evened the World Series at one game apiece with a 5-1 win over the Indians in Cleveland Wednesday night. Cubs starter Jake Arrieta allowed one run on two hits while striking out six in five and ⅔ innings. Kyle Schwarber and Ben Zobrist each went 2 for 4 at the plate in the win. Game three is Friday night at Wrigley Field.
