Girls Volleyball:

St. Mary’s Springs competed in day two of the UW-Oshkosh tournament Wednesday. The Ledgers defeated Markesan 2-0 (25-19 & 25-13) and lost to Grafton 2-0 (19-25, 28-30), Mosinee 2-1 (25-22, 24-26 & 10-15) and Waukesha North (22-25 and 14-25). Springs finished in 8th place out of 32 teams at the tournament.

Girls Golf:

Fond du Lac defeated Neenah 196-205 in an FVA dual meet at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Margaret Krolczyk earned medalist honors with a 45. Gabby Emmer placed second with a 47.

College Soccer:

The Marian Men’s Soccer team was picked to finish seventh in the NACC preseason poll released Wednesday. The Sabres received 110 points from voting done by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors. Dominican was picked to win the conference with 15 first place votes, with Benedictine second and Concordia of Wisconsin picked third.

The Marian Women’s Soccer team was picked to finish eighth in the NACC preseason poll. The Sabres received 91 points in voting done by conference coaches and Sports Information Directors. MSOE was picked to win the league with 14 first place votes, Dominican second and Aurora third.

Major League Baseball:

National League:

San Francisco 4, Milwaukee 2

–Jarrett Parker’s two-run double in the seventh inning broke a 1-1 tie and helped the Giants clinch a series win over the Brewers on Wednesday in San Francisco. Parker’s double was followed by a sacrifice fly by Carlos Moncrief in the 8th to extend the Giants’ lead to 4-1. Stephen Vogt homered in the ninth to pull Milwaukee within two runs, but Sam Dyson ended the Brewers’ threat and earned his 12th save of the season. Jacob Barnes took the loss in relief for Milwaukee, he’s 3-3. The Brewers are off today and open a three-game series with the NL-leading Dodgers on Friday.

–Dodgers starter Rich Hill didn’t allow a hit in nine innings, but gave up the walk-off home run to Josh Harrison to lead off the 10th.

Minor League Baseball:

NBA: The Wisconsin Herd acquired the rights to 11 players in the 2017 NBA G-League Expansion Draft Wednesday. Among the notables was Perry Ellis, a forward from Kansas, who was acquired by the Herd from the Greensboro Swarm. The Herd is among four new teams entering the league this year who took part in the Expansion Draft.
