NFL: Former Packers wide receiver James Jones announced his retirement from the NFL Wednesday. Jones was a third round pick out of San Jose State in the 2007 draft by the Packers and spent nine seasons in the NFL, eight of those in Green Bay. For the Packers, Jones had 360 career receptions for 5,195 yards and 45 touchdowns. He had career-highs in receiving yards and yards per catch in 2015 after re-signing with Green Bay following a short stint in Minnesota. Jones was a member of the Packers’ Super Bowl 45 Championship team.

College Football: The Badgers say their game on Saturday at 11am against Florida Atlantic at Camp Randall Stadium will go on as scheduled. A number of games featuring teams from Florida have been moved or cancelled because of the expected landfall of Hurricane Irma this weekend. The Owls are expected to arrive in Madison on Friday, and the Badgers say they are prepared to assist F-A-U if their return home is impacted, including paying for extra hotel stays, use of training facilities and meals.

Sports on the air tonight, hear from Coach Chryst about this week’s matchup against Florida Atlantic on the Paul Chryst show at 6pm. That is followed by Thursday Night Football, as New England hosts Kansas City. Coverage begins at 7pm.
