Packer nation got a dose of reality on Wednesday.  Packer coach Mike McCarthy had his season
ending press conference abruptly cancelled yesterday morning.  It was later learned that his 47-year-old
brother Joe collapsed at a Pittsburgh
area gym and later died at a hospital.
The coach immediately flew to Pittsburgh.  There is no timetable for his return.

It turns out it was academic standards that pushed Gary
Andersen out of Wisconsin and to Oregon State.  Andersen told CBS Sports that he was upset he
couldn’t get certain players into Wisconsin
who had qualified by NCAA standards.

Carvelle Oliver banked in 30-foot jumper at the buzzer to
lead the Marian men over Edgewood 61-58 last
night at the Sadoff Gym.   Josh Creed led
the Sabres with 16 points.  The win evens
Marian to 9-9 overall and 8-5 in NACC play.

.  Matt Carlino led the Golden Eagles with 21

The Brewers have signed veteran pitcher Dontrelle Willis to
a minor league contract with an invite to the Major League camp.  The lefty hasn’t pitched in the Big Leagues
since 2011.  He was the N.L. Rookie of
the Year in 2003 and a two-time All-Star.

We’ve got high school boys basketball tonight on KFIZ as St.
Mary’s Springs hosts cross-town rival Winnebago Lutheran at the Hutter
Gym.  Coverage begins at 7:05pm with the
Tim Cruz Agency American Family Insurance Pregame Show.  The tip is set for 7:30pm.  The game streams at kfiz.com.  It’s presented by BCI Burke Company.
