Sports – Thursday, June 4th, 2015

St. Louis roughed up Jimmy Nelson for 5 runs in the 1st
inning and cruised to a 7-4 win over the Brewers on Wednesday afternoon.  Gerardo Para went 4×5 with a homer in the
loss.  The Brewers take today off and
then open up a three game weekend series in Minnesota on Friday night.

 

Ryan Braun missed Wednesday’s
game for a planned procedure on his injured thumb. The Brewers also sent
pitcher Tyler Cravy down to the minors and called up outfielder Shane Peterson.

The Chicago Blackhawks
rallied for two goals in the 3rd period to steal Game 1 of the
Stanley Cup Finals 2-1 on Wednesday in Tampa Bay.  Game Two is Saturday night in Tampa.

 

The NBA Finals will get going
on tonight as Golden State hosts Cleveland.

 

The Packers wrap up this week’s
round of Organized Team Activities today. 
They will get back into action next week.

in action today as the WIAA State Boys Tennis Tournament gets underway in Madison.  The team of senior Keenan Salah and junior
Matt Riley earned a #10 seed and will face Ben Sinese and Noah Guillermo of
Milwaukee Marquette today at 2:30pm.

Four area high school golfers
have been named Academic All-State by the Wisconsin Golf Coaches
Association.   St.
Mary’s Springs’ Brady Sarauer along with WLA’s Chris Colla, Noah Westphal and
Austin Cutter all get the honor.

 

Fond du Lad senior outfielder
Matt Ryan has been named to the 1st Team All-Fox Valley Association
Baseball Team. Pitcher Dan Behlke, catcher Blaine Evans, 2nd baseman
Jack Cole, and shortstop Reggie Hernandez were all Honorable Mention picks.

 

Fondy Senior Shania
Schibbelhut was named 2nd All-FVA in softball as an infielder.  Garnering Honorable All-FVA picks for Fond du Lac were;
infielder Cheyenne Bonicontri, pitcher Andra O’Brien, and DP Caroline Wagner.
