Ted Thompson has resigned one of his free
agents.  Linebacker Mike Neal tweeted out
last night that has agreed to a two year contract to return to Green Bay
Safety MD Jennings has left the team to sign a free agent contract with
the Chicago Bears.

 

The St. Mary’s Springs girls basketball
team will travel to Oshkosh North on tonight for a WIAA Division 4 Sectional
Semifinal with Oshkosh Lourdes.  Coverage
begins at 6:35pm with the Backyard Grill Pregame Show.  The tip is set for 7pm presented by BCI Burke
Company and Taco Bell.   Waupun will travel to West Bend tonight for a Division 3 Sectional
Semifinal against Oostburg.  The girls
sectional finals are set for Saturday night..

 

The WIAA Boys State Basketball Tournament
kicks off today in Madison
with Division Four and Division Five action. 
In Division Five this afternoon it will be Green Bay
NEW Lutheran vs. Sheboygan Lutheran and Thorp taking on Cochrane-Fountain City.  Tonight in Division 4; Unity takes on
Blair-Taylor and Whitefish Bay Dominican will battle Brillion.  Division 1, 2, and 3 semifinals will be
played on Friday with the championship games set for Saturday.

 

The Fox Valley Association has released
their All-Conference Boys Basketball Team. 
Fond du Lac junior Brian Luteyn was named
Honorable Mention All-FVA  Neenah’s Matt Heldt was
the Player of the Year, while Rockets coach Scott Bork was named Coach of the
Year.

 

For the girls, Cardinal Senior Brianna
Wagner was named 2nd Team All-FVA. 
Wagner was also named to the All-Defensive Team. Kimberly’s Frankie
Wurtz was the Player of the Year.

 

The Badgerland Hockey Conference has
released their All-Conference Team.  Fond du Lac’s Michael
Wilson was named the Player of the Year and headlines the First Team.  St. Mary’s
Springs’ Conner Blank also makes the first team as a forward.  Fondy’s Alex Graf is on the 1st Team
at defense.  On the 2nd team
at forward are Springs’ Anthony Grebe and Waupun’s Ryan Durant.  Fondy’s Ben Pertl makes the 2nd team
at defense.  Forwards Mark Austin of
Springs and Brady Beekman and Brandon VanGalen get Honorable Mention at
forward.  The Ledgers Jackson Voight and
Logan Mertens are Honorable Mention at defense.   Goalies Alex Graf of Fondy and Andrew Riehl
of Springs get Honorable Mention nods as well.

 

Cardinal Stritch stopped Northern New
Mexico 74-53 in the first round of the NAIA Division 2 National Men’s
Basketball Tournament in Branson,
Missouri
on Wednesday
afternoon.  Laconia grad Derek Semenas led the way with
26 points.  The #1 ranked Wolves will
face Southeastern Florida in the 2nd
round on Friday afternoon at 1:45pm.

 

The Big Ten Tournament begins today with
1st round games.  The Badgers
are the #2 seed and will have a bye. 
They will play the winner of Minnesota
and Penn State on Friday night at 5:30pm.  You’ll hear it on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  Coverage begins Friday afternoon at 4:30pm.

 

Marquette opens up Big East Tournament play today
as they take on Xavier. 

 

The Bucks are on the road tonight in Atlanta. Milwaukee still have the
worst record in the NBA at 13-51.  That’s
2 games below the 76ers in the fight for a higher draft pick.

 

The Angels hammered the Brewers 12-2 on
Wednesday in Cactus League action.  Matt
Garza gave up 10 runs and 9 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings of work.  His spring training ERA is over 19.  Brewers reliever Francisco Rodriguez is going
to miss some time at spring training because he stepped on a cactus.  The Brewers play San Diego today.  There is no radio broadcast of today’s game.
