Badgers & Bama

The Wisconsin Basdgers announced on Wednesday that they will open up the 2015 football season against Alabama at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.  The game will be played on Saturday, September 5th, 2015.

The 2nd round of the tournament gets going this morning.  Marquette is set to play Davidson this afternoon in Lexington, Kentucky.  The game in the East Region is set to tip off at 2:10pm Central.  We;’ll have NCAA Tournament coverage tonight on KFIZ starting at 5:30pm. The Badgers will play Ole Miss on Friday morning.  Coverage begins at 10:30am with the tip at 11:40am on KFIZ from Kansas City.  If you’re driving around you can hear all of the games on Fox Sports 950AM The Game out of Sheboygan.

 

UW-Green Bay Falls In CIT

The Bradley Braves ended the Green Bay men’s basketball season 75-69 in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament on Wednesday night.  Alec Brown had 23 points to lead the Phoenix who’s season ends at 18-16.

 

Cardinal Stritch Honors

Coming off of winning the NAIA Division Two National Championship, Laconia High School graduate Derek Semenas has been named 2nd Team NAIA Division Two-All American.  Semenas averaged 16 points per game this season for the Wolves.  Head Coach Drew Diener was named the Rawlings NAIA Division II Coach of the Year and also the National Association of Basketball Coaches NAIA Coach of the Year.  Also student assistant coach Tyler Stacey was named the Winning Hoops Magazine’s Aspiring Coach Award.

 

Bucks Fall

The Milwaukee Bucks came out flat last night in Atlanta, losing to the Hawks 98-90.   Jeff Teague scored 27 and Al Horford 26 for Atlanta.  Brandon Jennings had 21 in the loss for Milwaukee. Monta Ellis had just 5 points on 2-14 shooting.  The Bucks sit two games behind Boston for the 7th playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. 

 

Heat Win Again

The Miami Heat rallied from 27 points down to beat Cleveland 98-95 on Wednesday night for their 24th straight win.

 

Brewers Tie

Chris Narveson pitched six scoreless innings as the Brewers and Giants played to a 0-0 tie in Cactus League play on Wednesday. 

 

Brewers Trade

The Brewers made a trade on Wednesday, sending righty Dennis Byrd to Oakland in exchange for 3rd baseman Stephen Parker.  Parker hit .277 with 43 home runs in four minor league seasons.

 

Braun Target?

USA Today has published a story that Major League Baseball is doing everything they can to find a way to suspend Ryan Braun for performance enhancing drugs.  The article stated the MLB is furious that Braun beat a failed test last year and will do anything they can to find dirt on him to suspend him, including giving other players amnesty to give up information.  MLB said the claims were false.

 

NFL Rule Changes

The NFL changed a couple of rules on Wednesday.  They approved the new helmet contact rule which will call for a 15-yard penalty on a running back if they lower their head to initiate contact with their helmet on a defender.  They also got rid of the “tuck rule” for quarterbacks. 

 

Reed To Houston

Reports says that longtime Baltimore Ravens Safety Ed Reed will join the Houston Texans as a free agent.
