Ledger Girls In Sectional

The St. Mary’s Springs girls basketball team will play Markesan tonight at Beaver Dam in a Division Four Sectional Semifinal.  You’ll hear that game on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  Coverage begins at 6:35pm with the Backyard Grill Pregame Show.  The tip is set for 7pm.

 

Boys State Tourney

The WIAA Boys State Basketball Tournament begins at the Kohl Center in Madison today.  In Division Five this afternoon Drummond takes on Green Bay NEW Lutheran and Elmwood squares off against Randolph.  In D4 tonight its Auburndale and Amherst and Cuba City against Whitefish Bay Dominican.  The D3, D2, and D1 Semifinals are on Friday.

Cardinal Stritch At National Tournament

The #2 ranked Cardinal Stritch Wolves play Jamestown College in the first round round of the NAIA Division Two Basketball Tournament today at Noon in Point Lookout, Missouri.  Fond du du Lac Goodrich grad Drew Diener coach’s the Wolves.  Former Fondy Cardinals Nick Ford and Tony Smit, and Laconia grad Derek Semenas play key roles for Stritch. The Stritch women play Concordia-Nebraska in the first round of the NAIA D2 Women’s tournament this morning in Sioux City, Iowa.  Lomira’s Liz and Emily Neitzel along with Fondy grad Karson Stacey play for the Stritch women.

 

Bucks Fall

Blake Griffin tallied a triple-double with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists as the LA Clippers stopped the Bucks four game win streak with a 117-101 win out west.  Monta Ellis had 22 points and Brandon Jennings 18 points and 12 assists for Milwaukee.

 

Badgers In East Lansing

The Badgers are just one game back in the loss column behind Big Ten leader Indiana as they head to Michigan State tonight.  Wisconsin and Michigan State are 11-5 in Big Ten play heading into tonight’s game.  The Hoosiers are 13-4.  Tonight’s game tips at 8pm central time.  We’ll have that game right after high school hoops on KFIZ.

 

Marquette in Big East Lead

The Marquette Golden Eagles woke up this morning tied for first in the Big East after Georgetown lost at Villanova 67-57.  Marquette, Louisville and Georgetown all have 13-4 league records   Marquette wraps up their regular season at St. John’s on Saturday.   Reports say that the seven Catholic schools in the Big East have reached an agreement to bolt the football schools this summer and keep the name of the league.

 

Brewers Win

The Brewers rallied for a 7-6 Cactus League win over Seattle on Wednesday.  Rickie Weeks went 3×3 while Mike Fiars gave up 3 runs and 3 hits in 3 and a third innings of work.  The Brewers and Diamondbacks play this afternoon in the Valley of the Sun.  Coverage begins at 1:55pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.
