The Brewers slide continues as they lost their 8th
straight game with a 6-2loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field.  The Cubs scored 2 in the 2nd and 4
more in the 3rd to run starter Matt Garza out of the game. The
Cardinals recorded a 1-0 walkoff win over Pittsburgh
to open up a 3 game lead over the Brewers and a five game cushion over the
Pirates.  Also in the N.L. Central the
Reds blanked Baltimore
6-0 in interleague play.

 

The Brewers organization is mourning the loss of one of
their front office people.  Scouting
Director Bruce Seid died visiting family in Las Vegas on Tuesday night. He had been
Director of Amateur Scouting since 2008 and had been with the organization for
the past 17 years.  He was 53 years old.

 

The 2014 NFL season opens tonight as the Packers take on the
Seahawks in Seattle.  The Packers return to Seattle for the first time since the “Fail
Mary” game on September 12th, 2012. 
This time the Seahawks are the defending Super Bowl champs.  Coverage begins at 5pm with the kickoff set
for 7:30pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

 

The Dallas Cowboys have signed rookie defensive lineman
Michael Sam to their practice squad.  Sam
was cut by the St. Louis Rams this past week. 

 

The United States
men’s basketball team improve to 4-0 at the FIBA Basketball World Cup with a
106-71 win over the Dominican
Republic
on Wednesday.  Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried led the way
with 16 points.  Team USA wraps up pool play today against Ukraine
