–Madison scored three runs in the top of the ninth to defeat the Dock Spiders in a pitchers duel at Herr-Baker Field. Collin Ridout went 2 for 4 with a double and a triple in the loss for Fondy. Fond du Lac welcomes Rockford to town tonight, first pitch is 6:35 pm.

MLB: New York Yankees rookie Aaron Judge defeated Minnesota Twins infielder Miguel Sano 11-10 to win the Home Run Derby on the eve of the All-Star game in Miami. Judge clubbed homers of 504 and 513 feet in beating Dodgers first baseman Cody Bellinger in the semifinals after outlasting Marlins first baseman Justin Bour 23-22 in the first round. Miami outfielder and defending champion Giancarlo Stanton was knocked out in the opening round by Yankees slugger Gary Sanchez, 17-16.

Boston Red Sox hurler Chris Sale and Washington Nationals right-hander Max Scherzer will be the starting pitchers for tonight’s All-Star game. Sale will become the first pitcher to make consecutive All-Star starts representing different teams when he takes the mound for the American League. He has a major league-high 178 strikeouts and is 11-4 with a 2.75 ERA in his first year with Boston. Scherzer started the 2013 midsummer classic for the AL while with Detroit before moving to the NL in 2015. He leads the majors with a 2.10 ERA and is 10-5 with 173 strikeouts for the Nationals.

Three WIAC football teams are ranked in the top 15 of the D3Football.com preseason top 25 that was released Monday. UW-Whitewater, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Platteville are the three, with Whitewater at number three and Oshkosh just behind the Warhawks at number four. UW-Platteville comes in at number 15. Whitewater and Oshkosh each received first place votes in the poll, with the Warhawks receiving four and the Titans two votes. UW-La Crosse also appeared in the “others receiving votes” category. The Eagles earned four votes from the 25 member nationwide panel.

Ripon College Men’s Basketball all-time leading scorer Ty Sabin has signed to play professional basketball in Denmark. Sabin signed with the Horsholm 79ers over the weekend. The 79ers finished 17-16 last year, and have won two Danish League Championships – the last coming in 1993. Sabin led all of Division 3 in scoring last season with 30.7 points per game and set a single-season school record for points scored last year with 798t. He was named NABC Central District Player of the Year and D3hoops.com Central Region Player of the Year in 2017.

NBA Summer League:

LA Clippers 100, Milwaukee 93

–Rashad Vaughn scored 21 points, rookie DJ Wilson 14 as the Bucks fell to the Clippers in Summer League action in Las Vegas. Former Badger Bronson Koenig scored nine points on three three pointers. The Bucks are finished with their three preliminary games in Summer League and are guaranteed at least two more games in the Summer League tournament which begins Wednesday.
