The Hierl Insurance High School Team of the Week is the Fond du Lac High School Girls Golf Team. The Cardinals went 2-1 last week, winning dual meets over Neenah on Wednesday and Appleton North on Thursday. Their only loss came Tuesday to Oshkosh West. Margaret Krolczyk earned medalist honors in two of the three meets, shooting a 43 in Tuesday’s loss to West, and a 45 in the win over Neenah. Krolczyk scored a team-low 46 in Thursday’s win over Appleton North. Fondy will host Appleton East in a dual meet this afternoon at Rolling Meadows.

The Brewers return to action after a day off Monday and will open a short two-game series with St. Louis at Miller Park. Milwaukee is in second place in the NL Central, two and a half games back of the first place Cubs. Meanwhile, St. Louis is in third place in the central, five games back of the Cubs and two and a half games back of the Brewers. Matt Garza gets the start for Milwaukee while the Cardinals counter with Luke Weaver. Coverage on the Brewers Radio Network begins at 6:05, first pitch at 6:40 on KFIZ.

NFL:

A person familiar with the deal says Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions have agreed to a $135 million, five-year extension that makes him the highest-paid player in the NFL. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because terms were not disclosed. The team announced the deal keeps the quarterback under contract through the 2022 season. Detroit drafted Stafford No. 1 overall in 2009. He helped the Lions reach the playoffs last season for the third time in six seasons.

College Basketball: The schedule for the Marian Men’s Basketball team’s upcoming season was released Monday. The Sabres will open play at the UW-Stout Tip-Off Tournament on Friday, November 17th against host UW-Stout, with another game scheduled for Saturday the 18th. The schedule includes just 11 home games, including the home opener against UW-Eau Claire on Tuesday, November 21st and the conference opener against MSOE on November 28th.
