Gamel Out

The Brewers have lost first baseman Mat Gamel after he tore the ACL in the same knee that sent him home for the season last year.  Gamel was set to be the starting first baseman while Corey Hart recovered from his own knee injury.  With Gamel out, the Brewers now must look for another replacement.  Alex Gonzalez, Bobby Crosby, Taylor Green, or last year’s Southern League Player of the Year Hunter Morris.

Gomez Out of WBC

Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez has decided not to play for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic.  He says that he wants to concentrate on the Brewers season instead.  Milwaukee still has a MLB high 13 players from their organization in the WBC.

Bucks Back In Action

The Bucks return from the all-star break with a game against Brooklyn tonight at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.  Milwaukee is one game over .500 and could see Larry Sanders return from a back injury.  It could also be the last game in a Bucks uniform for guards Brandon Jennings and/or Monta Ellis.  With the trading deadline closing in, either one or both of those guys could get traded.
