The Tampa Bay
Rays edged the Brewers 2-1 on Monday night in Florida
The Brewers bats continued to be silent as they mustered just three hits
on the night.  Their lone run came off
the bat of Mark Reynolds, who belted his team leading 18th homer in the
3rd inning.  Kyle Lohse gave
up a bloop singles to James Loney in the 6th for the Rays only runs
on the night.   The Brewers lead in the
NL Central is now down to just 1.5 games over St. Louis

After working
out in pads for the first time in 2014 on Monday the Packers will take today
off.   They get going again on Wednesday
with a workout at 8:20am.  That will be
open to the public weather permitting.

 

Wisconsin
Badgers running back Melvin Gordon and right tackle Rob Havenstein were each
named one of five players to watch in the Big Ten Western Division by the media
on Monday.  Wisconsin is picked to win the Western
Division. They open the season on August 30th down in Texas against LSU.

 

The FVA boys
basketball conference will be a bit tougher next year as the #1 ranked
sophomore in the state has transferred to Oshkosh North.   The 6’4 guard Phillip Flory averaged 13
points per game as a freshman at Wisconsin Rapids
last year and has moved with his family to Oshkosh wear he will play for veteran coach
Frank Schade.  Flory’s father Mike played
for Marquette
in the 1980s and he himself has already verbally committed to playing for the
Golden Eagles once he graduates in 2017.
