The Marian University
men’s basketball will travel to #1 ranked UW-Stevens Point in the first round
of the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament.   The game is set for Friday night in Stevens Point.  It’s Marian’s first NCAA men’s basketball
tournament bid since 2001.

 

The Badger men’s basketball
team jumped up to #9 in the Associated Press College Basketball Poll this
week.  The Badgers travel to Purdue on
Wednesday night. 

 

Horizon League champion UW-Green Bay is ranked  34th.  Head Coach Brian Wardle had been named the
Coach of the Year.  Keifer Sykes was
named the Player of the Year while Alec Brown makes the First Team and is the
Defensive Player of the Year.

 

UW-Milwaukee begins play in
the Horizon League Tournament tonight as they host Detroit

 

The Bucks blew out the Utah
Jazz 114-88 at the BMO
Harris Bradley
Center
last night. Ersan
Ilyasova led five Bucks in double figures with 31 points.

 

LeBron James had a career
high 61 points last night as Miami beat Charlotte 124-107.

 

The Green Bay Packers have
decided not to use the franchise tag on free agents Sam Shields or BJ Raji.
That mean’s both players are free to shop their services to any team in the NFL
and the Packers won’t get any compensation if they leave.  The free agency opens on Saturday in the
NFL.  The Packers have about $35 million
dollars in cap space and tagging either player would have taken about $10
million dollars of that space.

 

Ryan Braun had a pair of
hits but the Brewers lost to the Cubs 4-2 on Monday in Cactus League play.  Braun is hitting .800 so far this spring.

 

The Brewers and Oakland will play
today.  Coverage begins at 1:55pm on
News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

 

The Brewers also announced
that when Bob Uecker takes time off from the radio this year, a trio of former
players will fill in.  Craig Council,
Darryl Hamilton, and Jerry Augustine will serve as Joe Block’s partner’s while
Mr. Baseball is away.

 

The WIAA has moved the
Division One Boys Sectional Semifinal between Neenah
and Stevens Point that had been scheduled to be
Thursday at Fond du Lac
High School
.  The game will now be played at Menasha High School.
