The
Fond du Lac
Stoutmen high school boys rugby team earned a playoff berth Monday
evening in their final regular season match by narrowly defeating
River Cities by a score of 19-17 at the UW-FDL Rugby Fields.  The Stoutmen
scored three trys in the first half, and converted 2 of 3 conversion kicks,
making it 19-0 at halftime.  River Cities fought back and scored 3 trys in
the second half, with the third coming in the final seconds.  However,
River Cities only converted 1 of 3 conversion kicks, so the Stoutmen squeaked
by with a win.  The Stoutmen finished 3-3 on the season, and travel to
Pulaski this Saturday for the first round of the playoffs.
