HS Sports:

The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association announced their “All-Region” teams on Tuesday and a number of area athletes were recognized.

From Fond du Lac High School defensive end Garrett Sphatt, lnebacker Carson Raddatz, punter Adam Hopper, offensive lineman Joe Schlagenhaft, and tight end Henry Lange were named to the Northeast Region Team.

From St. Mary’s Springs Academy, Jacob Schrauth (OL/DL), Clay Schueffner (RB/LB) and Mitch Waechter (DB) were named to the all-East Central Region team. Winnebago Lutheran defensive lineman Grant Manke was named to the East Central region team as well.

Oakfield’s Eric Jacob (QB), Ethan Tapp (TE/FB) and Brandon Williams (Utility) were named to the WFCA 8-Man All-Region team.

NFL:

Mike McCarthy confirmed that Bryan Bulaga is out for the season with a torn ACL and that Morgan Burnett would be out for Sunday’s game against Chicago with a groin injury. The Packers and Bears renew their rivalry at Noon on Sunday from Soldier Field.

College Football:

The Badgers climbed one spot to number eight in this week’s College Football Playoff Rankings following a 45-17 win over Indiana last Saturday. The top four of the CFP rankings consists of Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame and Clemson, with Oklahoma and TCU at five and six. 8-0 Miami jumped ahead of the Badgers at number seven this week, with Washington and Auburn rounding out the top ten. The Badgers opponent this week, the Iowa Hawkeyes, debuted in the rankings this week at number 20 off of their upset win over Ohio State last week.

Baseball:

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders have announced that Zac Charbonneau will return as field manager for the 2018 season. Charbonneau led the Dock Spiders to a 38-34 record in the team’s inaugural season this past year. The team ended the year on a six-game win streak, tying for a playoff spot, but missing out on the postseason due to tiebreakers. Fond du Lac will open the 2018 season in late May.

NBA:

Cleveland 124, Milwaukee 119

–Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 40 points to lead the Bucks in the loss, Malcolm Brogdon added 22, Khris Middleton 20 as Milwaukee lost their fourth straight game. The Bucks travel to San Antonio on Friday night.

The Bucks added guard Eric Bledsoe in a trade with the Phoenix Suns Tuesday, sending F/C Greg Monroe and a protected first and second round draft pick. Bledsoe is in his eighth season in the NBA and has career averages of 13.1 points, 4.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. Bledsoe averaged more than 20 points and six assists in each of the last two seasons in Phoenix.
