High School Softball action on KFIZ this afternoon, it’s a Division 1 Regional first round game as Fond du Lac travels to Oshkosh West. Coverage begins at 4:25, first pitch is 4:30 pm.

WIAA Division 1 Regionals: (At Rolling Meadows Golf Course)

 

Fond du Lac wins the regional championship and advance to sectionals, shooting a 319, edging out second place finisher Cedarburg by one stroke.  Elliott Nielsen earned medalist honors, shooting a 73. Jack DuChateau, Sam Nielsen and Seb Hoban all finished tied for 11th with an 82.

 

WIAA Division 2 Regionals: (At Kettle Hills, Richfield. Host: Kewaskum)

 

Kewaskum wins the regional championship, shooting a 337. Chilton finishes second with a 346 and qualifies for sectionals. Sheboygan Falls 3rd (352), Campbellsport and Oostburg tied for fourth (380) — Oostburg won the tiebreaker, New Holstein 6th (390), Kiel 7th (391), Cedar Grove-Belgium 8th (396), Lomira 9th (397), North Fond du Lac 10th (474).

 

Chilton’s Alex Brandt earned medalist honors, shooting a 72. Teammate Coulton Brickl finished 9th with an 88. Campbellsport’s Layton Stoffel qualifies for sectionals as an individual – Stoffel finished tied for 11th with a 90. Nate Werbelow led Lomira individually with a 96 to tie for 21st, Dawson Wodsedalek led North Fond du Lac individually with a 108 to tie for 41st.

 

WIAA D2 Regionals (At Koshkonong Mounds CC, Host: Jefferson)

 

Waupun finishes in 3rd place, the Warriors shoot a 330 to qualify for sectionals as a team. Blake Harmsen leads Waupun individually with a 79 to tie for 5th place. Mayville finishes 7th at the Jefferson Regional with a 368. Caleb Martin paces the Cardinals with a 78, finishing in a tie for 3rd, Martin advances to sectionals as an individual.

 

WIAA Division 3 Regionals: (At Rock River CC, Waupun. Host: Central WI Christian)

 

St. Mary’s Springs wins the regional championship and advances to sectionals. The Ledgers shoot a 305, led by Doyle Kelly who earns medalist honors with a 74. Ben Hintze finishes second with a 76, Colin Ahern 3rd with a 77, Owen Ahern 4th with a 78. Dawson Sarauer finished 8th with an 83.

 

Winnebago Lutheran placed second as a team and advances to sectionals. The Vikings shoot a 364, led by John O’Connor who tied for ninth individually with an 87. Mason Herkstroeter tied for 11th individually with an 88.

 

Central Wisconsin Christian placed 4th with a 372 and advances to sectionals. Ethan Cook tied for 5th individually with an 81 to lead CWC.

 

Laconia placed 9th at the D2 regionals. Zach Coffeen qualifies for sectionals as an individual. He tied for ninth with an 87. Oakfield finished 10th with a 512. Michael Kottke led the Oaks with a 97 to tie for 19th.

 

Boys Tennis:



Fond du Lac places second at the WIAA Division 1 subsectionals at Manitowoc Lincoln. Drew Jorgensen (Flight 1 singles), Matt Tentler (2 singles), Ethan Hurley (4 singles) all qualify for sectionals. Doubles teams of Felix Cloutier/Kyle Leisses (Flight 1 doubles), Moosa Syed/Jason Wang (Flight 2) & Zach Wilson/Evan Fritz (Flight 3) all advance to sectionals.

–Kendrys Morales went 1 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI as Toronto held off the Brewers at Miller Park Tuesday night. Orlando Arcia and Jonathan Villar each had run-scoring singles for the Brewers, who pulled within 4-3 in the fourth, but were shut out by the Blue Jays’ Bullpen the rest of the way. Tea teams wrap up their short series this afternoon. Coverage begins at 11:35 am on KFIZ.

NBA News:

 

The Orlando Magic have hired Bucks general manager John Hammond to be their new GM. Hammond spent the last nine years in Milwaukee. Magic president of Basketball Operations, Jeff Weltman, whose hire was announced Tuesday morning, worked under Hammond as the assistant GM for the Bucks from 2008-2013. The two also worked together with the Detroit Pistons from 2007 to 2008. Hammond replaces Rob Hennigan, who was fired last month after the franchise missed the postseason for the fifth straight season.

 

Eastern Conference Finals (Game 4):

–Kyrie Irving scored 42 points, LeBron James 34 as the Cavs moved one game closer to closing out Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals. Cleveland leads the series 3-1 and can win it in game five Thursday

–The Senators tie the series 3-3 and force a game seven which will be held Thursday.
