WIAA Division 1 Sectionals (At Sun Prairie):

 

Semifinal: Sun Prairie 2, Fond du Lac 1

 

WIAA Division 2 Sectionals (At Waupun):

 

Semifinal: Waupun 2, Jefferson 1

 

Semifinal: Mayville 2, Wisconsin Lutheran 1

 

Championship: Waupun 14, Mayville 3

–Waupun will face Mosinee in the State Semifinals next Wednesday evening.

 

WIAA Division 3 Sectionals (At Markesan):

 

Semifinal: Laconia 6, Southern Door 0

–Drew Gunnink earns the complete-game shutout win for Laconia in game one. Cormac Madigan 3 for 4 at the plate.

 

Championship: Laconia 8, Kenosha St. Joe’s 2

–Laconia advances to state for the first time in school history. The Spartans will face Iola-Scandinavia in the State Semifinals next Wednesday afternoon.

 

WIAA Division 4 Sectionals (At Barneveld):

 

Semifinal: Oakfield 7, Rosholt 1

 

Championship: Oakfield 10, Pecatonica 6

–Oakfield rallies from down 6-0 to defeat Pecatonica and advance to state for the first time since 1996. The Oaks will face Athens in a D4 Semifinal game Wednesday morning.

 

WIAA State Boys Golf Tournament (Day 2):

 

Division 3:

 

St. Mary’s Springs wins their third straight State Championship in Division 3. The Ledgers shoot a two-day total of a 648, to finish 27 strokes ahead of second place Eleva-Strum.

 

Individually for St. Mary’s Springs Owen Ahern ties for 8th with a 159, Doyle Kelly 10th with a 161, Dawson Sarauer 14th with a 164, Ben Hintze and Colin Ahern finished tied for 19th with a 169

 

Division 2:

 

Chilton’s Alex Brandt finishes tied for 11th with a 157, Mayville’s Caleb Martin finishes 13th overall with a 159.

 

Northwoods League (South):

 

Rockford 6, Fond du Lac 5 (10 Innings)

–Third straight loss for the Dock Spiders, who hit the road to face Wisconsin Rapids tonight. First pitch is at 6:35.

–Eric Sogard went 2 for 4 with a double, Hernan Perez hit his 7th home run of the season as the Brewers won game two of their series with the Giants at Miller Park. Chase Anderson had another strong outing on the mound, going 7 & ⅔ innings, allowing no runs on six hits. Game three is tonight, coverage begins at 6:35 on KFIZ.

–The River Bandits score three in the ninth to steal a win from the Rattlers.

 

College Football:

 

The Badgers Saturday, September 9th home game against Florida Atlantic will kickoff at 11am and be televised by the Big Ten Network. The announcement came Tuesday and it means that now five of the Badgers’ regular season contests have had start times announced.
