Northwoods League All-Star Game:

–Fond du Lac’s Connor Johnson got the start on the mound for the south division team in Tuesday’s All-Star game and Catcher Nick Fortes batted in a run in the eighth inning to help seal the South’s win in Tuesday’s game in Wausau. The Dock Spiders return to action Thursday against Lakeshore.

Pittsburgh 4, Milwaukee 3

–A four-run sixth inning for the Pirates helped them win game two of the four game set with Milwaukee on Tuesday night at PNC Park. A three-run home run from Travis Shaw in the 3rd gave the Brewers the lead, but home runs from Francisco Cervelli and Josh Harrison and a run-scoring single from David Freese put the Pirates ahead, and their bullpen held the Brewers scoreless the rest of the way.  Game three of the series is tonight, coverage begins at 5:30, first pitch at 6:05 on KFIZ.

–The Brewers’ lead in the NL Central is down to 2 & ½ games after the Cubs won their fifth game in a row.

MLB News:

Brewers Catcher Stephen Vogt is headed to the disabled list after a collision at home plate in Monday’s loss to Pittsburgh. Vogt strained the MCL in his left knee in the play and also suffered a strained neck. Vogt will head to the 10-day disabled list and is expected to be out four to six weeks. Additionally, pitcher Tyler Webb and infielder Yadiel Rivera will transition to Triple-A Colorado Springs, while pitcher Michael Blazek and catcher Jett Bandy will return to the parent club.

Brewers #1 overall draft pick in this year’s draft Keston Huira will join the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers for action starting tonight when they open a series with the South Bend Cubs at Fox Cities Stadium. Huira was the ninth overall pick in last month’s draft out of UC-Irvine, where he hit .442 with eight home runs in his final season with the Anteaters.

The Timber Rattlers have also announced that Eric Sogard will be playing with the team for a rehab assignment in games tonight and Thursday. Sogard was placed on the 10-day disabled list on July 5th with an ankle injury. Sogard is hitting .331 with three home runs and 14 RBI in 43 games with the Brewers this year.

NFL: Packers defensive lineman Letroy Guion is headed to trial for intoxicated driving in Hawaii. His attorney, Kevin O’Grady, said Monday that Guion plans to go to trial, which is scheduled for August. A police report says Guion smelled of alcohol and marijuana, stumbled and spoke with slurred speech when he was pulled over. Records say he told an officer it was his birthday and he had been drinking In an unrelated incident, the NFL suspended him without pay for the first four games of the 2017 season for violating a policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
