Appleton East defeated Fond du Lac 196-209 in an FVA Dual Meet at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Shefali Bhatt had a team-low 47 for Fondy, Margaret Krolczyk scored a 48.

–Abby Michels in singles play, doubles teams of Eleanor Stone/Isa Hopper and Samantha Brannen/Haley Franz earn wins for Springs.

Cross Country:

Winnebago Lutheran girls win the Viking Invitational at UW-Fond du Lac Tuesday. Sarah Niehueser places first for WLA (22:08.87), Elle Teske places second (23:44.62).

The WLA Boys placed third at the Viking Invite. Mark Flood took 6th place individually to lead the Vikings. St. Lawrence Seminary took second place.

–Domingo Santana went 2 for 4, Eric Thames hit his 28th home run of the season in the loss for Milwaukee. The Brewers committed three errors and allowed 11 hits in the loss that pushed them three and a half games back of the Cubs in the National League Central. Matt Garza took the loss for the Brewers, allowing six runs – three of them earned – on four hits in 3 and ⅓ innings. The teams will wrap up the two-game series this afternoon at Miller Park, Chase Anderson starts for Milwaukee while the Cardinals send Carlos Martinez to the mound. The Brewers have announced that pitcher Brent Suter and catcher Andrew Susac will rehab with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers this week. Suter, who was a member of the Rattlers’ 2012 Midwest League Championship Team, is slated to be the starting pitcher for tonight’s game against Beloit. Both Suter and Susac have been on the 10-day disabled list since the middle of the month. They become the seventh and eighth Brewers players to rehab with the Timber Rattlers this season.

NBA:

The Bucks announced they will host the Boston Celtics at UW-Milwaukee’s Panther Arena, which was formerly known as the MECCA, on October 26th for their “Return to the MECCA” game, part of their 50th anniversary celebration. The Bucks called the MECCA home from 1968 to 1988 before moving to the Bradley Center.
