Rose Bowl

The Stanford Cardinal beat the Wisconsin Badgers 20-14 at the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.  The Cardinal jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter but UW rallied to make it 17-14 at the half.  Neither team could get anything going in the 2nd half.  Stanford kicked a field goal late to make it a six point game and then picked off Curt Phillips to end a Badger comeback attempt.  Montee Ball ran 24 times for 100 yards and a TD.  He’s the first back in Rose Bowl history to rush for 100 yards in 3 games.  Interim head coach Barry Alvarez lost a Rose Bowl for the first time after winning three times as the full-time head coach.  UW’s season end at 8-6.  New head coach Gary Andersen now officially takes over the program.

Woodson Can Play

The Packers continue to get ready for the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday night in their Wild Card round playoff game at Lambeau.  Head coach Mike McCarthy told the media on Tuesday that DB Charles Woodson has been cleared to play on Saturday after missing most the last half of the season with a broken collarbone.  McCarthy also said that Randall Cobb practiced on Tuesday and is also expected to play on Saturday night.  McCarthy also said he would have an update on WR Jordy Nelson and DL Jerel Worthy’s knee injury on Wednesday.  Saturday night’s game kicks off at 7pm.  Coverage begins at 5pm on KFIZ.
