The Fond du Lac Post 75 American Legion Baseball Team picked up a 6-3 win overAppleton at Brownsville on Tuesday night.  Jason Schneider gave up just two runs in five innings to pick up the win.  Reggie Hernandez’s RBI single plated the go ahead run to start a 3 run 6th for Fondy.  The win improves Post 75 to 9-1 in league play.   They travel to Appleton tonight with the 1st pitch set for 5:30pm.

In Major League Baseball, the American League bested the National League in the Mid-Summer classic 4-2 at Petco Park in San Diego. Eric Hosmer of the Kansas CIty Royals went 2 for 3 with a home run and two rbis and was named MVP. With the win, the American League will once again have home field advantage in this year’s World Series. Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy got a base hit in his only plate appearance.

Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred announced before Tuesday’s All-Star Game that the National League batting title will be named in honor of the late Tony Gwynn. The American League champ will be known as the Rod Carew award.

The Green Bay Packers are looking ahead to this season and beyond. Packers president Mark Murphy says that the city is bidding to host the NFL draft in the future, and is looking ahead to 2019 when the new titletown district will be open. He says it will be a good way to showcase the city and the team to the rest of the league.

The British Open begins play tomorrow at Royal Troon in Scotland and a pair of WIsconsinites are getting ready to compete. Mequon’s Jordan Niebrugge (NEE-broo-gee), tee’s off at 5:58 AM CT Thursday Also, Edgerton native Steve Stricker begins play at 3:14 AM CT

Wisconsin Badgers linebacker Vince Biegel was named to the Butkus Award watch list on Tuesday. The award is given to the nation’s top linebacker. BIegel recorded 66 tackles and eight sacks last season, as part of the Badgers’ defense that was the top scoring defense in the NCAA, holding opponents to 13.7 points per game. Biegel was also named third-team all Big Ten. The Butkus award will be presented on December 6th.

In the NBA, Las Vegas Summer League Tournament play begins today. The Bucks are seeded as an 18-seed in the bracket, and will play the 15-seed Dallas Mavericks at 9pm this evening.

Brewers off until Friday, open the 2nd half with a weekend series in Cincinnati
