The St. Mary’s Springs boys golf
team won their 2nd ever state golf championship in school history on
Tuesday at University Ridge in the Madison
area.  The Ledgers took the WIAA Division
Three meet by 16 shots over Greendale Martin Luther.   Colin Ahern and Brady Sarauer tied for 5th
at +18 over two days.  Patrick
Treichel tied for 12th at +24. 
Owen Ahern (+31) and Dawson Sarauer (+34) rounded out the Ledger
scoring.  The last Ledger state golf
championship was in 1959.

 

WLA’s Chris Colla shot a
2-under-par 70 to finish 4th in the WIAA Division 2 Golf
Championship.  The defending champ was 4
shots behind the champion.  Campbellsport’s
Jack Adams finished tied for 18th.

 

The Laconia baseball team came up just short on a
bid reach the WIAA State Baseball Tournament. 
The Spartans knocked off Gibralter-Washington
Island
6-5 on Tuesday
morning in Ripon before falling to Lake Country Lutheran 2-1 in 8 innings.

 

The Fox Valley Association
All-Conference Boys Tennis Team has been released.  At #4 singles freshman Drew Jorgensen makes
the 1st team.  Making the 2nd
team for Fondy are Felix Cloutier at #2 singles and Matt Tentler at #3
singles.  The #1 doubles team of Matt
Riley and Keenah Salah who finished 3rd at the state meet get 2nd
team honors.  At #2 doubles, Ethan Pieper
and Moosa Syed also get a 2nd team nod. Matt Schneider was an
Honorable Mention pick at #1 singles.

 

Four area teams have
qualified for the WIAA State Softball Tournament in Madison later this week.  Waupun will play Beloit Turner in a Division
Two Semifinal on Thursday night at 6pm. 
On Friday morning Oakfield faces Juda/Albany in a Division Four
Semifinal at 9am.  On Friday afternoon
Lomira plays Poynette in a D3 semifinal at 1:30pm and Laconia faces Bloomer in the other D3
semifinal at 3:30pm.  You’ll hear the
Friday games on KFIZ.

 

LeBron James scored 40 points
as the Cavs took down Golden State 96-91 in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday
night.  Steph Curry scored 20 to pace the
Warriors.  Game 4 is Thursday night in Cleveland.

 

The Packers continue OTA
workouts today in Green Bay.  Today’s workout is open to the public and is
set to start at 11:30am.

 

Taylor Jungmann beat the Pirates
4-1 in his Big League debut on Tuesday night for the Brewers.  The 2011 1st round draft pick gave
up just 1 run and 4 hits in seven innings of work.  Jason Rogers and Aramis Ramirez both homered
in the win.   The Brewers look for the
series sweep tonight as Kyle Lohse takes on Charlie Morton.  Coverage begins at 5:30pm on KFIZ.

San Francisco Giants rookie
Chris Heston struck out 11 as he threw a no-hitter last night in a 5-0 win over
the Mets.

 

The Chicago Blackhawks host Tampa Bay
in Game 4 of the NHL’s Stanley Cup Finals tonight.  The Lightning lead the best of seven series
2-1.
