Brewers Fall

Giancarolo Stanton’s two-run homer in the 8th off of Jim Henderson lifted Miami to a 5-4 win over the Brewers last night in Florida.  The Brewers rallied to take the lead in the 7th on a Scooter Gennett sacrifice before Florida took the lead back an inning later. Jean Segura had a couple of more hits to raise his average to .340. The series wraps up tonight as Alfredo Figaro takes on Kevin Slowey.  Coverage begins at 5:35pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

NBA Finals

San Antonio used the long ball to blow out the Miami Heat 113-77 in Game 3 of the NBA Finals last night.  The Spurs hit a finals record 16 threes in the route.  Danny Green hit 7 of 9 three pointers and scored 27 points.  Gary Neal connected on 6 of 10 from downtown and finished with 24 points.  LeBron James had 15 points and 11 rebounds in a losing effort.  The Spurs will take a 2-1 series lead into Game 4 of the series on Thursday night in Texas.

The NHL opens up the Stanley Cup Finals tonight as Chicago hosts Boston.

 

Bishop on Way Out

Multiple reports say that the Green Bay Packers will part ways with linebacker Desmond Bishop if they can not find a way restructure his contract.   The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports the team will cut Bishop if they can’t trade him. Bishop is set to make over $3.4 million dollars this year as part of a four-year, $19 million dollar deal he signed in 2011.  Bishop tore his hamstring during training camp last year and missed the entire season.

 

WIAA State Baseball Tournament

Sun Prairie and Stevens Point each won two games on Tuesday to move into Thursday’s WIAA Division One State Baseball Championship Thursday night at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton.  Semifinals for Divisions 2, 3, & 4 are today.  Waupun will play Lodi tonight in a Division Two State Semifinal.  The first pitch is set for 8:15pm.
