St. Patrick’s Day Weekend Enforcement Effort In FDL County

Expect to see a law enforcement presence on Fond du Lac County highways this weekend. Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says they want to make sure those going to St. Patrick’s Day gatherings aren’t drinking and driving. He says, “We will be watching. We will have extra deputies on both Friday and Saturday nights and this is all part of that highway enforcement grant money that we use for the special enforcements or the additional enforcements. So those deputies will be just out enforcing traffic laws and looking for drunk drivers.” Waldschmidt urges those planning to go out to plan ahead by using a designated driver or finding another way to get a safe ride home. He says, “There’s taxis, there’s social media, everybody has got a cell phone. You can text somebody, call somebody. You have a lot of ways of getting home safe these days and with technology it just makes it that much easier.” Police from Fond du Lac, North Fond du Lac, Waupun and other law enforcement agencies in the County will be participating in the enforcement effort.
