Staggering Numbers For FDL County Sheriffs Dept In 2017

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department received 28,219 calls for all types of service in 2017. That is one of the staggering numbers the department recorded last year. Chief Deputy Mark Strand says 11 people died in 10 traffic accidents, but people are often surprised to find out the leading contributor wasn’t drinking and driving. Just as many were killed because they didn’t buckle up. The average age of people killed in traffic accidents in the County last year was 37 years of age.. Strand says they did handle a lot of traffic crashes. There were 228 hit-and-run crashes, 985 property damage crashes and 436 crashes in which people were injured. In addition there were 1,050 car-versus-deer crashes. Deputies also performed more than 13,000 traffic stops as well.
