“Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive on Saturday

The “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive is coming up this weekend. On Saturday, city and rural letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations along their routes.

Coordinator Mike Streetar says the Fond du Lac community provides strong support for the event. He tells us “Letter carriers in fond du lac have collected over 657,000 pounds of food since 1995. So we appreciate the fond du lac area being so generous. We pick up that food and bring it to the post office, we weigh it, then distribute it to the pantries that are on the docket that day, and they’re responsible for getting it back to the pantries.”

All of the donations stay local. Streetar says the National Association of Letter Carriers drive is the largest one day drive in America.
