State Budget Contains Buffer

State Senator Scott Fitzgerald is proud legislators were able to build in a $200 million buffer into the State Budget in case the economy softens. He points out some other states did not do that with their budgets and may have to do budget repair bills if their revenue projects are soft. He says on the other hand Wisconsin legislators may be able to do other things with that buffer money if the state’s revenues continue to be healthy. He told KFIZ News if the economy continues to stay strong and income and sales tax collections are where they are at they may be able to revisit it before they adjourn should they move forward with a few things they did not do with the budget. They may also be able to renegotiate with the governor over some things he vetoed. Fitzgerald attended the Governor’s budget signing ceremony at a Neenah elementary school Thursday.
