State Budget Highlights

State Senator Dan Feyen is proud of the state budget signed into law last week by the Governor. In particular Feyen is pleased with some of the tax cuts they were able to make. One of those cuts eliminates the State Forestry tax on property tax bills. It works out to a cut of about $20 to $25 on a home worth $150,000. The state lawmaker from Fond du Lac says they also are working on eliminating the personal property tax for businesses. The state budget included an elimination of about a third of it. The rest will be eliminated in subsequent state budgets. Feyen ran on a platform of smaller, smarter government. He feels some of that was fulfilled by eliminating the 415 state jobs the Governor wanted to add and cutting another 16 jobs as well.
